The yellow house is supporting Action Against Hunger (AAH) again this year by participating in their "Love Food Give Food" campaign.
More than 8 million people in the Horn of Africa are in urgent need of assistance to cope with the impact of severe droughts, which threatens to push populations in Somalia into a devastating malnutrition crisis. This humanitarian crisis is affecting Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya and in particular Somalia, where the situation is deepening every day. As one of the few humanitarian organisations present in the country, AAH is appealing for urgent donations to support its emergency response.
We have therefore decided to start raising funds for AAH as soon as next week (from 19 July) when we'll make a small charge for each glass used for tap water (excludes refills) and we'll also be adding a £1 voluntary contribution to each bill issued. Water is plentiful here - especially this summer! - so we hope you agree this is a small sacrifice.
Last year customers and The yellow house donated £800 to AAH - lets make it over a £1,000 this year! Thank you for your support.
Please see www.actionagainsthunger.org.uk for more information about this international humanitarian organisation that has been at the forefront of the fight against hunger and malnutrition for over 30 years.
* UPDATE * The yellow house and customers have raised £800 this year - thank you for your support! This contribution will help to save lives, with for example only approx. £36 needed to provide a month's complete home treatment for a malnourished child. 92% of funds raised for AAH go directly to their programmes and services in the field.
The yellow house is supporting Action Against Hunger (AAH) again this year by participating in their "Restaurants Against Hunger" 2010 campaign. Please see www.actionagainsthunger.org.uk for more information about this international humanitarian organisation that has been at the forefront of the fight against hunger and malnutrition for over 30 years.
With millions at risk as crops fail in central Africa and unprecedented floods in Pakistan displacing 20 Million it's as important as ever for us to contribute what we can so organisations such as AAH can pursue their urgent work in these countries.
We are therefore be offering customers the opportunity to make voluntary contributions at the time of paying their bills during September and October.
The yellow house and customers who dined with us during October 2009 raised a total of £500 for Action Against Hunger. This should provide enough therapeutic milk, nutritional products, vitamins and medicine for 50 children for a week. Thank you for your support!
The yellow house has been a Restaurants Against Hunger participant since 2003. This is an international movement that supports the work of Action Against Hunger and its goal to end child hunger in over 40 countries around the world. Reg. UK Charity No. 1047501
