We selected a few Southern Italian varietals that had impressed us at Liberty Wines’ recent annual tasting event for you to try with canapés to match, inspired by Italian cuisine and made by The yellow house kitchen team.
The turn-out was terrific with over fifty tasters enjoying themselves in our bar area, guided by Patricia, our knowledgeable and fun wine consultant. We were also very pleased to have Victoria Curatolo of Villa Tonino and Louise Sutton of Liberty Wines join us for what turned out to be a lively and enjoyable evening.
The result of your voting on the night was as follows:
White wines:
1. Villa Tonino, Inzolia, 2008, Sicily –
favourite white and second overall with 124 points (77%)
2. Vesevo, Sannio Falanghina, 2008, Campania – 112 points (70%)
3. Donnafugata, Polena, 2008, Sicily – 94 points (59%) Red wines:
1. Villa Tonino, Baglio Curatolo Nero d'Avola, 2006, Sicily –

We’re currently offering the remaining stock of these wines (except for the Nero d’Avola, which has sold out!) at special prices.
We thank Liberty Wines for their support and our customers for taking part and making it such a lively evening - hopefully some of you will now be inspired to buy a new wine being produced in Sourthern Italy.
